A Profile of Richard Wiggins, Our Housekeeping Director
Housekeeping at the Slovene Home for the Aged is a very, very big job. It takes a staff of about 20 people working on three shifts. The director is a really busy man as the cleanliness of the facility rests on his shoulders. That man is Richard Wiggins, or Rick as we all know him.
Rick, a young man of 48, was born in Spangler, PA. His family subsequently moved to East Cleveland where he attended grade school. Another move brought the family to Eastlake where Rick continued his grade school education and later attended Eastlake Junior High School and Eastlake North High School from which he graduated in 1976.
Rick and his wife Debbie met while both worked at the Home. They now live in Austinburg Township, located southeast of Geneva in Ashtabula county. Rick commutes to the Home making a daily round trip of more than 80 miles. Rick and Debbie are the parents of two daughters. They are also the parents of three other daughters and two sons from previous marriages. The children range in age from 27 years to 7 years....MORE>
SHA Benefits From Very Generous Donors
In its 44+ years of existence, the Slovene Home for the Aged has been blessed by the generosity of its many friends. In the past several months the Home has benefitted again from a series of very generous donations and bequests.
Recently, a delegation of ladies from the Progressive Slovene Women of America met at the Home to present to the Administration a check for $50,000, The PSWA recently ceased operations and has been distributing the balance of its funds to various organizations. We thank the ladies of the PSWA for remembering the SHA with its very generous donation and we assure them that the funds will be used wisely for the benefit of our residents...MORE>
